The awareness teams in public spaces are a group of people who have primarily provided support at parties and in clubs. The work is carried out by a non-profit association. With funding from the City of Vienna (MA13), the awareness teams will be present every Friday and Saturday, as well as before holidays, from 7:00 PM to 4:00 AM at the Donaukanal and at places such as Karlsplatz, Stadtpark, Heldenplatz, Schwedenplatz, between the musea (Maria-Theresien-Platz), and at the Wientalterrasse (cargo bike with purple flag) until September 21, 2025.

Because community is when everyone can feel comfortable!

Public space is for everyone, so we ask for a shared, supportive way of interacting with each other and with the spaces. This is how we create a mindful city where everyone can feel at ease.

Therefore, we ask you: Take care of yourself and others!

  • Respect the needs and boundaries of everyone.
  • Support others and ask if you think someone might need help.
  • If you’re unsure whether someone wants something or not, just ask!

The awareness team is mobile and here for you in situations where…
… you feel like it’s too much for you.
… you don’t want/can’t intervene yourself.
… you feel uncomfortable for any reason.
… someone is discriminating against you or treating you badly — e.g. racism, sexual harassment, or verbal or physical abuse.

We also provide you with trash bags, FFP2 masks, informational material, water, hygiene products, ear protection, or other useful items.

AwA* has a child and youth protection concept.

You can read it here:

AwA* has given themselves rules.

These rules are meant to better protect children and young people, for example, in their children’s rights. But also in contact with staff members of AwA*.

If you want to talk to someone about the behavior of a person working at AwA*, you have two options:

eMailOur form

Kontakt Kinder- und Jugendschutz

Daten des Kindes/Jugendlichen

Eltern/Obsorgeberechtigte

Grund der Mitteilung
Worauf stützt sich der Verdacht

Mitteiler*in

Zeiten der Erreichbarkeit, Präferenzen des Kontaktes, …
Lehrer*in, behandelnde*r Arzt/Ärztin, Psychotherapeut*in, Nachbar*in, Verwandte, …)

The process is as follows:

You send an email or a message via the form. Then, our child and youth protection officers will get in touch with you. They are responsible for supporting you.

They will only act with your explicit consent. They will advise you anonymously and free of charge.

If you want to give us feedback on our protection concept or share anything else with us, feel free to send an email to
