We are community-oriented

We continuously provide educational materials, knowledge, workshops, and skills to activists and community-based organizations. Our awareness work is rooted in feminist, queer, and intersectional grassroots initiatives. It is important for us to share these resources in an accessible way with these groups.

Out now:
Our Awareness-Magazine “Facetten von Awareness – Warum und wie wir arbeiten”

As part of the project “Awareness Work in Austria – Foundations, Networks and Minimum Standards” (supported by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Care and Consumer Protection – BMSGPK), this brochure on awareness work was developed. It serves both as a reference guide for awareness work as it can currently be implemented in line with the Awareness Standards (www.awareness-standards.info), and as an overview of the status quo and current developments in awareness work from various perspectives.

The texts in the brochure consist of contributions by AwA – Collective for Awareness Work* as well as articles by various guest authors.

The brochure is available online free of charge for viewing and download and is also available in a printed version. The online and print versions differ slightly, as minor changes have already been made in preparation for a revised future second edition.

The printing of the physical version was supported by the ÖH University of Vienna Student Union, the Austrian Students’ Union, HUS, and the Institute Group for History. If you would like copies of the printed brochure, you can pick them up from our office by appointment in exchange for a donation, or have them sent to you for a donation plus postage costs. Simply send an email to: office@awa-stern.info

The Awareness Institute is a network of awareness practitioners from across the German-speaking region who develop and offer concepts and trainings on awareness work. Together, we make awareness visible and accessible for event organizers, affected persons, and anyone interested.

transformativejustice.eu >>> who we are:
Our group has been working on issues of sexualized violence, community accountability, and transformative justice since 2011. We aim to further develop and share concepts and practices for communities that are necessary to meaningfully address sexualized violence and violence in intimate relationships. Our goal is to analyze these forms of violence in relation to different power dynamics and to find ways of dealing with their complex interconnections.
