Call for Submissions: Research Presentations on Awareness and Support Work
We invite researchers, practitioners, and collectives to submit proposals for short presentations (max. 15 minutes), or for open space formats (e.g. topic table/focus table, or a moderated discussion format, max. 50 minutes) that critically engage with Awareness work and/or support structures.
This session aims to create space for empirical, theoretical, and practice-based reflections that contribute to a deeper understanding of care, safety, and structural intervention in event context as well as in public space. Submissions may address – but are not limited to – the following themes:
• studies of Awareness structures at events or in club cultures
• Intersectional analyses of harm, safety, and belonging
• Strategies for building sustainable, community-led support infrastructures
• Tensions associated with institutionalization and professionalization
• Working conditions and precarity in Awareness-/support work
• The role of urban policy, law, or funding frameworks in shaping nightlife interventions
• intersectional, anti-discriminatory approaches on care work
We welcome contributions from across disciplines, e.g. sociology, cultural studies, public health, gender studies, and critical social work, as well as activist contexts, Awareness-Work and other topic-related fields.
