Stadt ist Raum, in dem sehr viele unterschiedliche Menschen zusammenkommen. Insbesondere der öffentliche Raum Stadt unterliegt einer ständigen Veränderung. In einer Stadt zu leben bedeutet laufend mit verdichteter Unterschiedlichkeit konfrontiert zu sein. Es bedeutet, dass Menschen mit sehr unterschiedlichen Umgängen und Herangehensweisen direkt nebeneinander leben und miteinander auskommen müssen. Dabei wird oft der ambivalente Begriff von Sicherheit bemüht. Dieser wird oft im Kontext von Überwachung, Kontrolle und repressivem Vorgehen verwendet und gedacht. Sicherheit ist ein Begriff, der in den letzten Jahren weitestgehend rechtsextrem verwendet und geprägt wurde. Für uns sind Kameras oder Kontrollen im öffentlichen Raum aber nichts, was die Stadt sicherer macht.
Dem entgegengestellt denken wir, dass es wichtig ist, ein konkretes Gegenkonzept zu setzen. Dabei geht es um Fragen:
- Was macht Sicherheit aus?
- Wie kann eine sichere Stadt aussehen?
Sicherheit heißt für uns gemeinsames Wohlfühlen, Carecity (eine sorgende Stadt) und miteinander. Doch wie können wir uns dieser anderen, emanzipatorischen Sicherheit annähern?
Wie können Awarenesskonzepte dazu beitragen? Was bringen Konzepten wie transformativer Gerechtigkeit und Community Verantwortung im städtischen Kontext?
In der gemeinsamen Diskussion wollen wir von unseren Erfahrungen erzählen. Dabei geht es um öffentlichen Raum, Awarenessarbeit in Communitys und der Frage, wie das alles mit einer solidarischen Stadt für alle zu tun hat.

The city is a space where many different people come together. The public space of the city in particular is subject to constant change. Living in a city means being constantly confronted with condensed diversity. It means that people with very different ways of doing things and approaches have to live right next to each other and get along with each other. The ambivalent notion of security is often used in this context. It is often used and thought of in the context of surveillance, control and repressive action. Security is a term that has been widely used and coined by right-wing extremists in recent years. For us, however, cameras or controls in public spaces are not something that makes the city safer.
In opposition to this, we think it is important to set a concrete counter-concept. This involves questions:
What constitutes safety?
What can a safe city look like?
For us, safety means feeling good together, a carecity and with each other. But how can we approach this other, emancipatory security?
How can awareness concepts contribute to it? What are the benefits of concepts like transformative justice and community responsibility in the urban context?
In the discussion, we want to share our experiences. It is about public space, awareness work in communities and the question of how all this has to do with a solidary city for all.
