Statement AwA* 18.08.2023 – Awareness-Standards in Wien // Ananas
In den letzten Wochen und Monaten wurden vermehrt Missstände in der Awarenessarbeit in Wien an uns und uns nahestehende Gruppen und Kollektive herangetragen. Wir haben Berichte von nicht nüchtern arbeitenden Personen, Personen die nicht ausgebildet sind, fehlenden Vor- und Nachbereitungen und fehlender Supportstruktur (Supervision und Intervision), Übergriffen und anderen Problemen gehört. Diesbezüglich haben wir bereits überlegt, wie wir dazu gemeinsam mit vielen agieren können, um gute Standards, sowie eine damit verbundene Beschwerdestruktur aufzusetzen.
Wir sehen die Missstände im Kontext struktureller Problemlagen in Clubkultur und Kulturarbeit. Diese wurden in den letzten Jahren unter anderem unter dem Hashtag #metoo und aktuell auch bezogen auf die Clubkultur in Wien unter #technometoo thematisiert.
Wir haben uns daher entschieden, zu einem Vernetzungstreffen am
05.09.2023 um 18h30 einzuladen,
um gemeinsam mit allen, die Awarenessarbeit machen, Standards festzulegen, damit Personen die sich an ein Awarenessteam wenden, auch sicher sein können, dass sie die benötigte Unterstützung vertraulich und korrekt erhalten. Und weil es sich hierbei um einen Prozess handelt, wird dies mit einem Termin sichern noch nicht abgeschlossen sein werden (und für alle, die vielleicht beim ersten nicht können). Der zweite Termin wird am
04.10. um 18h sein.
Die Location fürs Treffen wird barrierearm zugänglich sein.

Zu Ananas-Awareness:
In einer Story auf Instagram hat das Kollektiv Ananas Wien uns diese Woche erwähnt. In dem Posting wird dargestellt, dass wir das Kollektiv „ausgebildet“ hätten und diese nach unseren Standards arbeiten würden. Einzelne Personen aus der Ananas Gruppe waren bei uns in einem Basic Workshop. Dieser Workshop umfasst 4h und ist keineswegs als „abgeschlossene Qualifizierung” zu verstehen. Diesen Punkt sprechen wir mehrfach im Workshop an. Es gibt in Wien durchaus Ort und Gruppen, die wir im Aufbau ihrer Kompetenz als Awareness-Struktur begleitet haben. Dies ist immer in mehreren Schritten passiert, meist auf der Basis von: Workshop – Vorbesprechen – Praktische gemeinsame Arbeit – Nachbesprechen – Workshop – Vorbesprechen – praktische gemeinsame Arbeit – Nachbesprechen – Treffen – etc.
Und das im Regelfall so lange, bis sowohl wir uns sicher waren, als auch die begleitete Gruppe „auf sicheren eigenen Beinen“ gestanden ist.
Wir haben klare Grundsätze und Arbeitsstandards. Diese werden in unserem Fall über das Awareness-Institut erarbeitet. Wir können jedoch im Fall von Ananas nicht nachvollziehen, ob und nach welchen Grundsätzen gearbeitet wird, zumal wir jedenfalls unsere (Arbeits-) Materialien bisher nicht mit der Gruppe geteilt haben.
Wir als Kollektiv, haben hohe Ansprüchen (an Awarenessarbeit von uns und an anderen) und möchten nicht ungefragt mit unserem Namen hinter einem Kollektiv stehen, welches wir nicht beim Aufbau ihrer Struktur begleitet haben. Daher haben wir Ananas daher dazu aufgefordert, ihre Aussagen im Posting zu widerrufen. Es ist für uns auch der Anlass, bis auf Weiteres, sämtliche Schnittstellen mit Ananas aufzulösen. In Absprache mit den anderen dort aktiven Gruppen wurde Ananas auch bis zur Klärung und Aufarbeitung der Vorwürfe aus der ViennAware Gruppe entfernt.
Statement AwA* 18.08.2023 – Awareness standards in Vienna // Ananas
In the last weeks and months, we and groups and collectives close to us have been approached with an increasing number of problems in awareness work in Vienna. We have heard reports of people not working sober, people who are not trained, lack of preparation and evaluation, lack of a support structure (supervision and invervision), assaults and other problems. In this regard, we have already considered how we can act together with many people to set up good standards and a corresponding structure for complaints.
We see the shortcomings in the context of structural issues in club culture and cultural work. In recent years, these have been addressed under the hashtag #metoo and currently also in relation to club culture in Vienna under #technometoo.
We have therefore decided to invite to a networking meeting on
05.09.2023 at 18h30,
to set standards with all those who do awareness work, so that people who approach an awareness team can be sure that they get the support they need confidentially and correctly. And because this is a process, this will not be completed with one meeting (and for those who may not be able to attend the first). The second appointment will be on
04.10. at 18h.
The location for the meeting will be barrier-free.

Ananas Awareness:
In a story on Instagram recently, the collective Ananas Wien mentioned us. In the post it is stated that we had „trained“ the collective and that they would work according to our standards. Individuals from the Ananas group came to us for a basic workshop. This workshop covers 4 hours and is in no way to be understood as a „completed qualification“. We address this point several times in the workshop. There are places and groups in Vienna that we have accompanied in building up their competence as an awareness structure. This has always happened in several steps, mostly on the basis of: Workshop – practical joint work – workshop – practical joint work – meeting – debriefing etc. And this usually continued until both sides were sure, and the facilitated group was „standing on its own secure feet“.
We have clear principles and working standards. In our case, these are developed through the Awareness Institute. However, in the case of Ananas, we cannot understand whether and according to which principles work is done, especially since we have not shared our (working) materials with the group so far.
We as a collective have high expectations (of awareness work by us and others) and do not want to stand unasked with our name behind a collective that we have not accompanied in building their structure. We have therefore asked Ananas to retract their statements in the posting. It is also the reason for us to dissolve all interfaces with Ananas until further notice. In consultation with the other groups active there, Ananas has also been removed from the ViennAware group until the accusations have been clarified and dealt with.
